不知道为啥大家对此书评价如此之低，个人感觉这本书观点是很明确的和直观的。对于历史的追溯脉络也算得上清晰。阅读的过程给予了新的知识和新的观点，阅读体验和作者的人文情怀都让我满意。个人认为不足之处在于对于论点论据的采集，来自维基百科也无可厚非，但是全段照抄维基还是让人大跌眼镜。（e.g. 讲俄国时提到 Konstantin Leontiev和共产主义那段）

本书第二和第三部分值得一读。虽然作者的出发点还是亨廷顿的文明冲突论，但他剖析了西方自身的原因，以及两千年之久的反西方/反天主教-基督教思潮。当然给出的解决方案太过理想化，诸如美军在中东全面撤军、完全解决巴勒斯坦问题，都是现阶段美国无法做到的
