I was intrigued by the TV show. The theme is really novel, and I tried to keep up with the TV show, but find it hard because of its slow pace and seemingly lacking of answers. Then I came across the book, which is great in lots of ways. It gave me the ability to finish it in one sitting, allowed me to grasp the whole picture. ps it's interesting.

Then I came across the book, which is great in lots of ways. It gave me the ability to finish it in one sitting, allowed me to grasp the whole picture. ps it's interesting.

先看瞭劇再迴頭來看的書，更喜歡劇。劇和書在講不同的東西。劇探討的是人與人的關係、信仰、意義這些挺“終極”的話題，所以看的時候會陷入巨大的虛空。而這本書，尤其看到結尾，你發現，哦，原來是要講，人總會從trauma中開始recover的。也難怪有那麼多小鎮生活瑣事的描寫。不過書倒是比劇更真實接地氣。故事的設置是departure三年後，你能想象到人們該有的掙紮、創傷、痛苦都應該已經開始從頂點退潮，人們像模像樣地開始新生活，小心翼翼地迴避departure，但它又無時不刻地爬迴你的腦子裏、生活中。書裏把這些呈現齣來瞭，而劇裏的衝突更多，每個人都還深陷在各種糾結中，比較像在講departure一年之內的事。
