馬剋•威斯頓•賈尼斯（Mark Weston Janis）是美國康涅狄格大學法學院William F. Starr講席教授。 1947年齣生於芝加哥，畢業於普林斯頓大學（A.B.1969年），牛津大學（B.A.1972年，期間在皇後學院獲得羅氏奬學金），哈佛大學（J.D.1977年）。他曾在美國海軍服役（1972-75年），在紐約和巴黎的沙利文與剋倫威爾律所（Sullivan & Cromwell）從事公司法和金融法律實務（1977 - 1980年）。 1980年起在康涅狄格大學任教。1993年起先後在英國牛津大學法學院任教和訪學，擔任客座研究員。在30餘年教授國際法的經曆中，他先後兼任多所高校的法學教授，包括康奈爾大學、加州大學洛杉磯分校、巴黎一大和馬賽大學。近年來，他主要講授國際法、歐洲人權法、衝突法，並為就讀LLM學位的國際學生和交換生開設美國法律製度。賈尼斯在國際法學界享有盛名，著述豐碩，包括《國際法》、《國際法概論》、《國際法案例評述》、《歐洲人權法》等多部經典法學著作，發錶國際私法、國際公法、國際法史的文章60餘篇，是《荷蘭國際法評論》、《國際共同體法律評論》與《牛津法律與宗教雜誌》的編委會成員。賈尼斯教授在教學、寫作和擔任編輯工作之餘，還是美國律師協會、美國國際法學會、美國法學院協會和國際法協會等組織的委員會委員。自 1990年起擔任美國國務院外交關係委員會委員。
