Bill Bryson当年写了The Lost Continent来偷偷的怀念父亲，后来写了这本The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid来怀念故乡。也许他明明白白的说了自己想念故乡，但是这本也依然是有些偷偷的在怀念，他用自己的诙谐掩盖那种乡愁。nostalgia，没办法不伤的。

每个人，无论会不会被人读到，都应该写的一种书。感觉像小时候铁了心要每天记日记的原因：这些东西不写就再没有人会记得存在过了。确实很好笑、易读又有信息量，美国50年代的消亡记录（其实也就是中国城市近20年的现代化进程和本地文化的消失）（但国人似乎没有人这么轻松地写此话题，Bryson厉害的，其实nostalgia和追诉很容易就沉重和苦涩）
