Situated some six miles from Melderton-on-Sea, the ancient town of Burnbury stands like an undiscovered island in a sea of green fields. Like sleeping beauty, time seems to have passed it by. The town boasts one church, one cemetery filled to overflowing, five shops one of which is an undertaker's, two public houses, and a population of three thousand two hundred. Some of the townsfolk, who have lived all of their lives in Burnbury, know every house in every street. Eight years ago, Mr Arthur Piddle a local developer, built nine pairs of semidetached properties on a vacant plot of land. When they were finished, the council decided to name them after the developer. They are now called Piddle Close.
