很棒的中世纪小说，其实一点也不黑暗，反倒是写出了日后能够让文明更好的因素:科技，艺术，工商业，大众对和平的维护。有各种形式的暴力、阴谋、困难和死亡，但至少主人公的命运不算悲惨。如果熟悉征服者威廉到金雀花王朝这段历史可能会被自己剧透一些不特别重要的情节，噗。

优缺点都十分鲜明：优点是行文流畅，高潮部分文字打动人。缺点是人物脸谱化。
