Katherine Mansfield (1888-19230 was a New Zealand modernist writer of short fiction stories. Katherine moved to London where she attended Queens College. She followed a bohemian lifestyle. After her brothers death in World War I her work took on a nostalgic theme. After a near-fatal attack of pleurisy she contracted TB. It was at this point that she began writing her best works. The Garden Party and Other Stories contains the following stories. 階級是客觀存在的，經濟差異，文化差異，環境差異... 沒必要為瞭展現自己的同情心或者是善心而去跨越這種差異。 ...但是說迴來，種種差異也不能阻止兩個人用心交流

评分難以跨越的階級鴻溝，生為母親，我會與Laura的媽媽采取的一樣方法吧，其實也是為瞭保護自己的孩子呀。對於不同階層的人，一味的同情其實能改變不瞭多少。但是萬分同意書中的一句話“one must go everywhere, one must see everything"
