這本書的內容即副標題“C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien on Art and Imagination”，並不是CP考據學或簡單的文本比較，而是對兩人藝術觀、幻想詩學乃至神學思想的綜閤考察。托爾金研究看到現在這個份上瞭思路要比來源/影響研究更為重要。書中對於柏拉圖-柯爾律治—喬治麥剋唐納—艾布拉姆斯理論的再理解和幾組改裝邏輯圖錶都很有啓示。對於C.S.路易斯，要重點繼續往下讀。
