这本书的内容即副标题“C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien on Art and Imagination”，并不是CP考据学或简单的文本比较，而是对两人艺术观、幻想诗学乃至神学思想的综合考察。托尔金研究看到现在这个份上了思路要比来源/影响研究更为重要。书中对于柏拉图-柯尔律治—乔治麦克唐纳—艾布拉姆斯理论的再理解和几组改装逻辑图表都很有启示。对于C.S.路易斯，要重点继续往下读。
