The revelation is (and perhaps will always be) this: to penetrate into the 'many lives' of translations, the ideal reader must be a polyglot. BTW André's differentiation of the critic and the critical community is shrewd, and the way in which he positions the Percy-Davis comparison within the Benjamin-Said confrontation is also superb :)
