评分学术畅销书，搁国内算是“递折子”那类。Gelb要求振兴内政没错，但收缩外交就很有问题了——总统主内国务卿主外已经在制度与行政层面很好地划归了各自的职能性。收缩导致局部空间权力坍圮的问题一时半刻也不大可能有其他人收拾（因为不划算），而这恰恰也是被人有机可乘的地方
评分美国外交ideology入门小教材。贯彻始终的American exceptionalism 非常恼人。
评分gelb的行文很有趣，引经据典十分自然贴切。段落中难免会有为博畅销书之名而强捏的口号式评论，理解了也就不必太过在意。作为moderates中的一员，能这样勇夺大众视线的实在难得。观点有可取之处，深入简出，美国式特别思想略重（跟romney比却是小巫见大巫了哈）。总体来说瑕不掩瑜。
