太渣瞭

用鮑德溫自己的話評價這本書吧：Giovanni is not really about homosexuality. It’s about what happens to you if you’re afraid to love anybody. Which is much more interesting than the question of homosexuality.

扉頁引的惠特曼與Hella說的“Americans should never come to Europe”可概括本書：愛得瘋狂害人，不直麵性嚮與真實情感也害人；Americanness，歐洲害（美國）人、法國害（美國）人、巴黎尤其害（美國）人。冷靜剋製的文筆要我命，最後D幻想G受處決的部分真是一把殺人乾淨利落的刀……上世紀同誌小說的感情綫放到現在好像都cliche，但揪著戲劇性沒必要，本就不是為瞭呈現一個好事多磨的言情故事。PS. Introduction裏提到的鮑德溫說過的一句太棒——“If Americans can mature on the level of racism, then they have to mature on the level of sexuality.”

當年此書特彆難齣版，經紀人勸Baldwin乾脆把手稿燒掉算瞭，於是Baldwin二話不說把這個經紀人開除瞭 乾得漂亮

这部小说很适合被拍成电影；在读最后一章的时候，画面和镜头都不由自主得冲出来。男主David在破碎家庭中长大，是一个心理上有些患得患失的bi，不管和谁相处时间变长，都会产生一种厌恶感——渣男特质。然而，我觉得两个男主被互相吸引并不是天性使然，而是因为生活的打击，让...  

虽然是本同志文学，但它绝不止于此……绝对是对人性的剖析…惊喜的喜欢又厌恶的主人公…这是一本特别少有的让我感觉和主人公心意相通的小说…但他的恐惧和逃避导致了悲剧…虽然我不会有他那样的恐惧…（我没有非主流性向……）但恐怕也不是毫无别的恐惧…可是我看到他们在酒吧...
