扉頁引的惠特曼與Hella說的“Americans should never come to Europe”可概括本書：愛得瘋狂害人，不直麵性嚮與真實情感也害人；Americanness，歐洲害（美國）人、法國害（美國）人、巴黎尤其害（美國）人。冷靜剋製的文筆要我命，最後D幻想G受處決的部分真是一把殺人乾淨利落的刀……上世紀同誌小說的感情綫放到現在好像都cliche，但揪著戲劇性沒必要，本就不是為瞭呈現一個好事多磨的言情故事。PS. Introduction裏提到的鮑德溫說過的一句太棒——“If Americans can mature on the level of racism, then they have to mature on the level of sexuality.”

花瞭兩個月纔把這本小書讀完 寫得不痛不癢 高潮也是如撓癢癢 憂傷也不憂傷 迷茫也不太迷茫 不過作為美國黑人的作傢在50年代寫齣這樣純白人歐洲社會同性戀背景的故事也是難能可貴的 The Publishing Triangle雜誌99年的LGBT小說TOP100中 本書第二

看得太抑鬱瞭。就是絕望！如果沒有david，喬凡尼的人生大概不會如此這般淒慘吧。生活可能逼迫他想到死，但隻有他深愛的david離開他，他纔真的會去實施死！壞的事情，一件一件發生，也讓一個人的承受力越來越低，越來越弱！david的離開，也許就是壓彎駱駝的最後一根稻草吧！

虽然是本同志文学，但它绝不止于此……绝对是对人性的剖析…惊喜的喜欢又厌恶的主人公…这是一本特别少有的让我感觉和主人公心意相通的小说…但他的恐惧和逃避导致了悲剧…虽然我不会有他那样的恐惧…（我没有非主流性向……）但恐怕也不是毫无别的恐惧…可是我看到他们在酒吧...  

这部小说很适合被拍成电影；在读最后一章的时候，画面和镜头都不由自主得冲出来。男主David在破碎家庭中长大，是一个心理上有些患得患失的bi，不管和谁相处时间变长，都会产生一种厌恶感——渣男特质。然而，我觉得两个男主被互相吸引并不是天性使然，而是因为生活的打击，让...
