These notes arise from lectures presented in Florence under the auspices of the Accadamia dei Lincee and deal with an area that lies at the crossroads of mathematics and physics. 现代数学是有一条主线的：围绕着莫尔斯理论-阿蒂亚指标定理，witten的物理化和Grothendieck的代数化，代数几何与现代物理就这样开始了。本书总体讲解了量子场论和低维拓扑的关系：Witten：四维流形关于杨米尔斯场Donaldson理论和Floer有关看做3+1维拓扑量子场论；琼斯多项式看做2+1维量子场论；把紧流形上的Dirac算子的指标定理解释成loop空间上的形式正则泛函积分Atiyah-Singer指标定理其实是道路空间上的一个简单积分公式。

评分☆☆☆☆☆

Atiyah称为Jones-Witten理论的梁子。用曲面的微分几何和Witten用Feynman积分构造3维TQFT，从而导出Jones多项式。缺点是跑梁子，几乎没细节。不知道有没有一本有细节的书可以作注释。学微分几何数学物理几何拓扑的研究生两三年能把这本书吃透了，基础知识应该够一多半了
