鈴木清對製作攝影集非常講究，親自設計自費齣版。本書首版為1972年自費齣版，目前能買到的為英文復刻版，保留瞭最初版本極強的手工感，照片旁時常可見作者的批注和手繪記號。鈴木清認為錶現精神範疇的攝影隻能用黑白照片。他的攝影追求純美學意義，同時兼顧個體的社會感。
