Taking his cue from the biblical story
of Adam s naming the creatures in
Paradise, teacher and poet John
Bennett has written a series of poems
reflecting an imaginative walk with his
daughter through the zoo. Each poem
captures in deft, evocative lines
some striking features of the animals
and their environment ! from the
ple~rful otter frolicking in the pool
to the "fiercely obdurate" badger
sitting on the stoney floor of his cage.
