Friday afternoon, May 4th: the fourteenth
consecutive day of rain in the Los Angeles area.
A chunk of the California coast is loosened, en-
gulfing all in its path- including the Seaside
Supermarket on Pacific Coast Highway, Cali-
fornia 1, near Laguna Beach.
Trapped inside: an architect-turned-hero, en
route home from drastic treatments to prolong
his life; two respectable housewives, at a crisis
in their unacceptable kind of love; a restless
youth, armed with rifle and revolver, awash in
a sense of false honor; a distinguished film pro-
ducer, on a detour with his star-paramour; a
time-fighting lady whose cellular therapy has
made her seem younger than her young lovers;
an insurance tycoon, on the lookout for a little
something on the side, just in case; two young
marrieds, already on their second honeymoon,
in love and trying to stay that way
