故事講述的是美國西擴過程中的一些去挑戰荒地的pioneers。主人公是一女子Alexandra，任勞任怨，機智且有責任感。作者一方麵在書中錶現瞭對這些開荒者的尊重與崇拜，另一方麵也受到與她同一時代著名思想傢作傢愛莫生梭羅的超驗主義思想的影響，錶現瞭對自然及wildness的崇尚。這算是一個作者思想上的對立矛盾吧，因為開荒者們的目的恰恰是改造自然，徵服荒野。書中人物性格描寫得比較豐滿，值得一看。

首先，当代读者应该明白 这应该是一本以“父老乡亲”为阅读对象的小说 所以这就决定了它情感上务必是通俗甚至有些煽情 在设计上也很简单纯粹 小说以半介入的程度描摹了一群准美国移民的生活图景和他们居住生态的变迁 但是拓荒的经过似乎只是一带而过 拓荒是怎样的筚路蓝缕也只...
