Medieval Civilization combines the narrative and descriptive power characteristic of Anglo-Saxon scholarship with the sensitivity and insight of the French historical tradition.

这本书或许不错，本来想买来进一步了解中世纪史，不料这翻译实在太不堪了。 从种种译注可以看出，译者本身的学术水平大概不差，经常能指正作者的错误，但问题是她根本不懂翻译，对汉语语法也毫无概念似的（要么就是不在乎），几乎所有的句子都是一个外语词按顺序对应一个汉语...

当初上手这本书的英译本是偶然。没事顺手翻看了一遍，感觉整体英文就理解来说并不算难，而且就将其翻译成比较顺畅的中文而言，难度也并不大。 只是当我看到中译本的时候，我实在不知道该说什么了。算了，翻译的问题还是不说了。 其实客观的说，勒高夫的这本书就是通论性质的。...

按理说，这本书应该不会太差，徐家玲是国内有名的中世纪专家，读过她的《拜占庭文明》，写得非常的好。她主持翻译的汤普森的《中世纪晚期欧洲经济社会史》对启发也很大。 之前雅克·勒高夫的的小册子《中世纪的知识分子》、《钱袋与永生 : 中世纪的经济与宗教》都看得津津有味...
