读之前以为是儿童小说；读第一章节以为是惊悚小说；读到中间以为是流浪小说；读到最后才知道，马戏团是缩影，每个人背后都有自己的影子，看似残暴的August，在感情上，无能为力；Jacob似乎不可思议的流浪，绝望的感情，都在那匆匆一跳中，当初只为逃离狼的嚎叫。

记得课上老师说the “water” in the title is actually the “hope” 整本书在两个时间线里穿插整个故事很丰富人与人之间的关系及其变化阶级之间的冲突还有男女主人公和大象Rosie之间的感情有很多细节都是让我动容的……除了发生在过去的精彩故事年迈的Jacob对于马戏团古怪的偏执也很让人印象深刻
