1944年，正值第二次世界大戰期間，44歲的聖埃剋蘇佩裏駕馭著他輕巧的“萊特寜”飛上一萬米的荒涼高空，從此再也沒有迴來。
1975年11月2日，一顆小行星被命名為“Antoine de Saint Exupéry(安東尼•德•聖埃剋蘇佩裏)”，編號2578。在去世31年後，聖埃剋蘇佩裏終於擁有瞭自己的一顆星星。但願在他的星星上，種滿瞭玫瑰花。
