圣埃克苏佩里并不是第一位描写飞行的作家，却是通过飞行探讨人生与人类文明的第一人。
1944年，正值第二次世界大战期间，44岁的圣埃克苏佩里驾驭着他轻巧的“莱特宁”飞上一万米的荒凉高空，从此再也没有回来。
1975年11月2日，一颗小行星被命名为“Antoine de Saint Exupéry(安东尼•德•圣埃克苏佩里)”，编号2578。在去世31年后，圣埃克苏佩里终于拥有了自己的一颗星星。但愿在他的星星上，种满了玫瑰花。
