塔亞莉·瓊斯（Tayari Jones）

Interesting premise that takes us thru black america (class diff&mobility, incarceration, marriage, food), steeped in the pride&particularities of black culture. 5 yrs fly by in haunting epistolary section. Told thru 3 voices. Prose borders on sentimental. Middle w/ flashback drags, simple plot carrying endless inner monologue, ends fast&neat.
评分Powerful and heartbreaking and convincing because each of the characters is fatally flawed and the reader is not allowed any feelings of superiority. A deep call for grace and forgiveness, even if you don’t think you need it, or that you’ve done nothing wrong. After all, a woman is only human, and men are fallen.
