Ambivalent, overall highly polished but can seem sterile at times. Readers get to enjoy a good mixture of themes - most dwell on finding patterns in nature, language and maths, some cover topical issues, while others were, well, experimental but a tad awkward.
評分The existence of free will meant that we couldn’t know the future. And we knew free will existed because we had direct experience of it. Volition was an intricate part of consciousness.
Story of your life則是探索人類語言的限度——不管再怎麼以光的摺射來說明因果論和目的論的差異,在人類語言不得不遵循的綫性錶達中,Heptapods的語言都依然更像是“預知未來”。
評分逼著自己讀完 which is not a pleasant experience.
