Elena 最早的一本書，在寫作上，介於《Days of Abandonment》和《Lost Daughter》之間，半意識流，半敘事，從母親的意外去世寫起，45歲的女兒開始探尋母親的過往。碎片化，欺騙人的迴憶，置身母親處境的帶入，故事慢慢清晰，卻沒有得到明確的答案(答案也沒那麼重要)。唯一清晰的，是那不勒斯女人們生存的處境，復雜的個性，復雜的情緒，如欲望，報復，都漸漸透露齣來瞭。這本書和後來的不大相同的地方，在於motherhood並不是那麼掙紮的事，女兒與母親之間互相影響，卻沒有那麼深重的排斥，更像是為那不勒斯"妻子"的角色畫群像。

費蘭特的早期作品。從情節，文筆和結構來看，其實寫得蠻一般的，有些地方讀起來相當生澀，構思上不怎麼有新意，描寫雖然細緻但沒什麼打動人的地方。

我看的Elena Ferrante的第六本书，其实是她1992年出版的第一本书，我借的是因为那不勒斯系列大热之后重新出版的版本。Troubling Love 是本更怪异的小说，书的开头“My mother was drowned on my birthday " 很像悬疑小说的开头，其实一点也不是惊悚推理故事。又是一个女性故事...
