著者简介

安德鲁·霍奇斯，1949年出生于伦敦城郊，1972年开始研究扭量理论，这是数学家罗杰·彭罗斯开创的、解决物理学根本问题的新方法。霍奇斯对艾伦·图灵如谜的人生深感兴趣，这一半是因为他们都是数学家，另一半是因为他们都是同性恋。70年代，霍奇斯积极投身于同性恋解放运动。1977年，他决心著写一本最详尽的图灵传记，他认为只有这样，才能公正地刻画这位天才的一生。经过多年调查与写作，本书初版于1983年问世。霍奇斯如今已重返本职，在牛津大学瓦德汉学院研究数学。

失望！关于图灵的传记怎么可以没有对数学和哲学的深入探讨？作者太局限于同性了。。

很惊喜的一本人物传记。没有过度抒情或者浪漫化，数学背景充实，脉络清晰。更多是数学家而非小说家的视角，在客观冷静和同情之间做到了不错的平衡。读到一半先去看了电影，电影失于格局太小，省略图灵的好奇和幽默，爱国和自由主义的挣扎扁平化成为爱情悲剧。不过我更喜欢电影的标题，模仿游戏不只是他重要的学术观点基础，作为一个实质上社会常规的局外人，也是他的为人处世之道，他的痛苦和孤独的根源。读到贝尔实验室同时集齐过奈奎斯特、香农和图灵，宇宙中心，瑟瑟发抖。
