读这本书之前，我也一直以为evolution就是自然选择。其实很多人都这样认为，就连哈佛大学自然历史博物馆也是，一开始介绍进化生物学，紧接着就介绍自然选择。虽然有些地方Lynch的语言绕口了一点，但是他总结了基因组学，遗传学，分子生物学等等学科新的数据和进展，用这些研究结果对进化生物学的基本问题再一次提问：多细胞生物与单细胞生物甚至原生生物在基因组上的不同之处，真的是来自于自然选择吗？
