一些標點符號和印刷符號的前生今世。但又不僅僅是對這些符號發展曆程的描述，而是涉及多個領域：書籍的抄寫和保存，校勘學的發展，早期教會，齣版印刷史，等等，既有很人文的內容，也有純技術的部分，讀者可以進行多個領域的延伸閱讀。感覺最有意思的是星號和dagger的那章，談瞭很多腳注的發展曆程，後來卻又談到瞭棒球明星Barry Bonds和小布什總統與星號的糾葛。最意外的是@符號，居然來自amphora。讀的2013版，現已又齣新版。
