It's like a story about growth. Although the fantasy world is colorful without any stress, but Dorothy still wants to get back to the reality where everything seems grey. I kind of like this point.

读了两遍陈伯吹译本。陈的翻译文字优美却不准确，自作主张地把飞猴故事的主角由Gayelette改成了甘林达，造成了故事的前后矛盾。“绿野仙踪”的题目极有诗意，尽管仙是中国神话所独有的一种存在。这是我看过的最好的故事之一，并且完全适合给孩子们阅读。鲍姆在为自己的书所作的导论中表达了对前现代童话故事的不满，表示了以新时代的童话对儿童进行一个道德教育的动机，对此我完全赞同。前现代的道德困境，其核心的部分是无解的，唯一的解决是创造出一种新的环境，在其中我们不必面对这样的困境，从而克服了它们。在此方面，鲍姆的故事可以说是现代精神的一个卓越代表，是孩子进入我们的时代的一个阶梯。
