詹姆斯·巴里（James Mattchew Barrie, 1860-1937），英国剧作家、小说家。出生于苏格兰一个纺织工人的家庭。1882年毕业于爱丁堡大学，从事新闻工作数年，并开始文学创作。1919年任安德鲁大学校长；1928年当选为英国作家协会主席；1930年受聘为爱丁堡大学名誉校长。

他的小说运用方言描绘苏格兰农村生活，富有幽默感和浪漫情调。主要作品有《小牧师》、《小白鸟》、《永别了，米莉小姐》。巴里一生创作了许多童话故事和童话剧。“彼得·潘”的名字首次出现在1902年的小说《小白鸟》中。1904年，剧本《彼得·潘》发表，12月27日首次在伦敦公演，引起了轰动。1911年，小说《彼得·潘》出版。随后这部作品被译成多种文字飞向世界，赢得了各国读者的喜爱。

About "Peter and Wendy", it's really a sad sad story. About "Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens", the six short stories show the backgroud of the lonely Neverland. Fairy tale writers are always strange fellows, solitary, eccentric, vulnerable, impressible, etc, but trying to create a pure, innocent, perfect and eternal children's world.
