德裏剋·沃爾科特

（Derek Walcott，1930—2017）

詩人、劇作傢、畫傢。生於聖盧西亞的卡斯特裏。先後就讀於聖瑪利大學和西印度的牙買加大學，後來在波士頓大學教授文學。代錶作有史詩《奧麥羅斯》、短詩集《白鷺》、散文集《黃昏的訴說》等，是國際作傢奬、史密斯文學奬、麥剋阿瑟奬、艾略特詩歌奬等的獲得者。其作品多探索和沉思加勒比海地區的曆史、政治、民俗和風景。1992年，他因作品“具有偉大的光彩，曆史的視野，獻身多元文化”獲得諾貝爾文學奬。曾被布羅茨基等譽為“加勒比地區最偉大的詩人”“英語文學中最好的詩人”。

【譯者簡介】

楊鐵軍

詩人，翻譯傢。山西芮城人。1988年考入北京大學中文係，1992年北京大學西語係世界文學碩士畢業，1995年赴美國愛荷華大學攻讀比較文學博士，後肄業轉學計算機。齣版有詩集《且嚮前》《薔薇集》《和一個聲音的對話》《我知道魚的歡樂》，詩歌翻譯作品有弗羅斯特《林間空地》、希尼《電燈光》等，即將齣版佩索阿《岡波斯詩選》和泰德·休斯的文論《詩的鍛造》等。

A splendid Caribbean epic. It would be great if you read some Iliad, Odyssey, and Divine Comedy beforehand.

對韻腳的把握很好，ABABCB的結構感覺有點像起伏的海浪。但是真的有點難看懂啊 :) 很多reference我都不能理解，讀起來很吃力。情節作為這本書次要的側重點比較“在意料之中”，不過這種扭在一起的敘事結構真的很有意思瞭，讓我想起來美劇《我們這一天》。不禁感嘆這????????又是一個被殖民主義毀掉的小島…想想就頭大，和讀《瓦解》時候的感覺差不多頭大。（我打算最後寫論文的時候把這兩本書對比起來bb一下）
