Richard Dawkins taught zoology at the University of California at Berkeley and at Oxford University and is now the Charles Simonyi Professor of the Public Understanding of Science at Oxford, a position he has held since 1995. Among his previous books are The Ancestor's Tale, The Selfish Gene, The Blind Watchmaker, Climbing Mount Improbable, Unweaving the Rainbow, and A Devil's Chaplain. Dawkins lives in Oxford with his wife, the actress and artist Lalla Ward.

评分对Dawkins始终感情复杂：一方面确实从阅读他著作中受益良多，另一方面其对物质精神二元论的理解近乎弱智，且Meme作为一套完整的科学范式理论的构建太过牵强。道爷对于宗教的态度简直就是英国版方舟子土摩托，字里行间都是理性主义者的自负与傲慢。
