普兰丁格的这本书是用分析哲学处理传统宗教问题的典范，比the nature of necessity更简单易读一些，大多数没有哲学背景的人也可以较流畅地阅读本书、接收其观点和思路，并可以适当跳过略带技术性的论述。也正因此，一旦涉及到核心论证，还是需要参照前面那本，如果不搞清其中的技术细节，容易被作者牵着鼻子走，最终收获的可能只是一个“悬空的意见”（虽然确实很有启发性）。
评分以自由意志來解釋為甚麼神可容許苦難存在，這書自七十年代扭轉了宗教哲學界對苦難問題的整個討論方向。但仍算是簡短可讀。
评分Introductory book to natural theology and atheology. Some arguments are quite obfuscating. Not really convinced by the Free Will Defence on the problem of evil. I still subscribe to Mackie's argument that it is logically possible for individuals to act freely but always go right.
