This is a bawdy and joyous novel. It's a throwback to the British novels of two decades ago - messy and offends everyone (over-the-top language and insults about race, sex, body parts, nationality, and religion). It's the story of two childhood friends from Scotland and two brothers from the American South whose lives intersect in the most absurd ways, with the result being the invention of a new religion.
