其實我讀的時候一直覺得在對婚姻隱忍道德的大框架下，其實漂浮著Eliot精妙設計的adultery impulse（double narrative progressions?）。典型的維多利亞偏重歡喜基調的結局。Middlemarch的‘middle"’，既是transition，又是commonness。
