納塔莉·巴比特，兒童文學作傢和插圖畫傢。齣生於美國俄亥俄州。從小喜歡閱讀童話和神話，並且受母親的影響熱愛繪畫。曾在史密斯大學學習美術。婚後她為丈夫創作的童書《第四十九位魔術師》繪製插畫，受到編輯鼓勵而開始自寫自畫並嘗試寫小說，一寫就是四十年。

1975年齣版的《不老泉》讓她備受贊賞，《紐約時報》評價她“毫無疑問是我們一位最有天賦和抱負的兒童文學作傢”。這部經典小說獲奬無數，並於1981年和2002年兩度被改編成電影。

1971年，小說《尼瑙剋山探險》獲得紐伯瑞兒童文學銀奬。
