于斯曼，法国19世纪著名作家，前期拥护自然主义，和左拉、莫泊桑等人合著了短篇集《梅塘夜话》，之后转向象征主义，《逆流》就是于斯曼转型之后的代表作。于斯曼具有极高的审美品位和时代触觉，在绘画方面推崇印象主义画派，在文学方面赞赏波德莱尔、爱伦坡、拉马丁等人。于斯曼的《逆流》启发了后世很多作品，王尔德在《道连·葛雷的画像》中也提到了此书。
