对于英语本身感兴趣的童鞋很有意思

拟声那部分比较好读，普通语言学说能指与所指是任意的，但词源学确立了一些类似偏旁又能指意的音节（sound symbolism)。

花了一年多，终于看完了。但也不知记住了多少。对很多单词的来源书中都有详细的介绍，拉丁与希腊语占了词源的大多数，但书中还是追溯到印欧语词。如果学过拉丁语对英语的了解会更深一层，比如duodenum直接就是拉丁语，全称是intestinum duodenum digitorum，duodenum就是十二的意思。写论文时常用的etc，ibid也都是拉丁语。
