本書是一本在美國被普遍認可而廣泛采用的大學物理教科書。內容包括力學、熱學、振動與波、電磁學、光學、狹義相對論等。本書的特色是注重概念，原理的講解，非常注意教給學生解答物理習題的方法；除配有大量，閤適的例題外，還適時地總結列齣利用原理解答習題的思路和步驟，並在學業生易發生誤解和錯誤的地方及時地加注：本書還引用瞭大量生動的生活實例，從實際齣發，激發學生的學習興趣，開闊學生的眼界。本書適用於一般工科院校，特彆是雙語教學。 Hugh D.Young is Professor of Physics at Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh,PA.He attended Carnegie-Mellon for both undergraduate and graduate study and eraned his Ph.D. in fundamental particle theory under the direction of the late Richard Cutkosky.He joined the faculty of Carnegie-Mellon in 1956,and Has also spent two years as a Visting Professor at the University of California at Berkeley.
Prof.Young's career has centered entirely around undergraduate education.He has written several undergraduate-level textbooks,and in 1973 he became a co-author with francis Sears and Mark Zemansky for their well-known introductory texts.With their deaths,he assumed full responsibility ofr new editions of these books,most recently the eighth edition of University Physics.
