詹姆絲（P.D.James,1920-）

齣生於英國牛津，二次世界大戰開打時，十幾歲的她曾加入紅十字義勇軍在糧食局工作，憑其學養與創作，一生得到很高的讚譽。1941年，詹姆絲嫁給醫生厄尼斯特．懷特，之後因遠赴前線的丈夫在戰後精神失常，在照顧長期臥床的丈夫並養育兩個女兒的情況下，她開始推理創作的寫作生涯，於42歲時完成首部長篇推理《掩上她的臉》（Cover Her Face, 1962），贏得文壇好評，更發現推理小說和純文學一樣有廣大的創作空間。而她筆下的亞當．戴立許（Adam Dalgliesh）係列一路書寫、發展，包括《謀殺之心》、《謀殺展覽室》、《死亡的滋味》、《燈塔》等，其故事特色不僅跳越公式化之外，神探角色甚至變成無聲的旁觀者。

詹姆絲創作力豐沛，著作豐富的她，至今已齣版十餘本書，其中不少已經改編成為英美的電影及電視影集，2007年颱灣上映的《末代浩劫》即改編其作品，2008年更推齣新作《私傢病人》，成為戴立許係列第十四冊，讓期待已久的書迷大加讚譽。她服務於英國公職三十餘年，包括警政部門，也曾經是英國國傢廣播公司執行長、及董事會成員之一，目前為英國上議院的議員。由於寫作有成，獲得許多國際獎項與榮譽，包括在英國有推理小說諾貝爾獎之稱的「鑽石匕首獎」，並於1991受封為女伯爵、1999年更獲頒美國偵探作傢協會終身成就獎。現居倫敦及牛津。
