4.5星。关于自我、记忆、性别、阶级、历史、殖民、造物者与创造者的一本书。Gray混杂了许多文学典故（莎士比亚、狄更斯、斯各特、托尔斯泰、《美女与野兽》），集合了各式材料（信件、画像、手稿等等），最终拼贴成一个对科学怪人的现代化改写。整个故事读着像一个俄罗斯套娃，不同的声音在不同部分交叠出现，最终把问题交给读者自己去决定：究竟谁才是可靠的叙事者？讽刺，有趣，又丰富，很特别的阅读体验。

刚读完真的很激动，但冷静下来仔细想了一下，这本书写的就像是东拼西凑，所以每个人都能找到想要的东西。从一开始的unreliable narrator以及Frankenstein式的开头，中途w的故事，educated那边的政治和女权，到最后的victorian式爱情故事。但不得不说最戳中我的是这个背景：拉纳克式的平行城市，医学院的lecture hall里科学和宗教并行，年轻人的辩论，无影灯和柳叶刀，内省与向外扩张，人类缓缓坠入青铜时代，还在学习、还在了解，还不到否认的时候
