Comparisons of the newly restored Winterthur Plate of the Adoration of the Kings by Geertgen tot Sint Jans with other versions of the same theme reveals many fascinating aspects of the work of this great Dutch painter. Within his body of work, there are three other Adorations of the Kings. The other paintings are in Prague, Amsterdam, and in the Cleveland Museum of Art in Ohio. The thematic focus of this book on these four works allows a fresh study of the artist's work and ideas during the period from 1480 to 1490.
