One autumn night, a group of fishermen discovers a corpse on a beach in Havana. The victim, Miguel Forcade Mier, has been brutally murdered and abandoned in a terrible state. This crime will resurface an old conspiracy loaded with corruption and frustrated ambitions. Forcade had officially been in charge after the revolution of the expropriation of artistic valuables from the middle classes. In 1978 Forcade decided, for no apparent reason and despite his power and influential contacts, to go into exile in Miami. Shortly before his murder, however, he had inexplicably returned to Cuba, as if to retrieve something very valuable whose existence only he knew. This is the brilliant climax of the Havana quartet featuring Lieutenant Conde.
