Here the reader is invited to sample some famous and some not-so-famous dishes from around the world, and to also discover the origins of foods and cooking techniques of each unique culture. Global Potluck began as a response by the author to the challenge of global hunger and poverty. Wanting to do more than thoughtlessly write a check, Jennifer Niemur created this book to celebrate the spirit of giving that comes so easily to us all when sharing food at our potlucks, and to translate that feeling into sharing on a greater level. Eighty percent of the profits from the sale of this book will be donated to Heifer International, a nonprofit organization that provides long-term, sustainable solutions to global hunger and poverty.
