This book challenges the cult of 'parent-blaming' so prevalent today, in which parents are held directly responsible for everything from youth crime to the crisis of education. It argues that the alleged crisis of childhood (and therefore parenting) is often overstated, the unfortunate outcome being to increase parents' insecurities further. The book concludes with a five-point manifesto indicating what parents want from policymakers, each other, and themselves.
