A Russian convoy fights its violent, wreckage-strewn course across the Arctic Circle. Only one ship, "The Charon," survives the turmoil, captained by the buccaneering Edward Trapp, as the ship and crew stagger from one crisis to the next in the captain's pursuit of ignominy and golden cargo.
