Lisa Martin-DeMoor's debut collection of poetry is both fearless and vulnerable-an exploration of grief and loss that is rooted in life affirmation, in deep attention to the natural world. From a "tangle of snowflakes" in Saskatchewan to "cell masses like dislodged icebergs," the earth and body inform one another, their cycles of life entwined. The resulting poems explore grief as an extension of love, and mortality as an extension of living. "Pain," she writes, "is the opened bloom of beauty."
