If one accepts the basic premise of the sociology of knowledge, that our truths are values and culturally produced and culturally relative, then doing theology is problematised. Theology wishes to retain disciplinary autonomy but the sociology of knowledge is no great respecter of the boundaries that we erect between different kinds of knowledge.
