During the 1940s, instead of ball games and a senior prom, Jeanette West spends her high school years in a Japanese prison camp in Manila, Philippines. She watches her mother's weight drop to 84 pounds. At the end, her father is close to death. A hundred other tragic memories leave her with a legacy of unresolved anxiety and stress that stalks her for the rest of her life. All of the great, exciting emotional challenges of her adult years are impaired by that crippling legacy. A bittersweet but inspiring documentary of courage and love that holds lessons for us all
