舍温·努兰（Sherwin B.Nuland）
作者在耶鲁大学教授外科和医学史，也是《康涅狄格医学》期刊（Connecticut Medicine)的文学编辑和《医学史及相关科学》期刊（Journal of the History of Mecicine and Alied Sciences）的总编。他所著的《麻醉的起源》（The Origins of Anesthesia）被列为医学图书馆的必备经典。
