This volume is about the "conceptual boundary" in Europe, a boundary determined by Western and Eastern Christianity. It also shows that the boundary has never been a stable and defined division, but has been subject to change and development as well as being a place of encounter and exchange between religions and cultures. There is no purely Western or purely Eastern Church; one has influenced the other.
